I love using visualization to achieve manifestation. At the same time I like reminding myself to be in the now, based on Eckhart Tolle's book, The Power of Now. I caught myself daydreaming about something in a very detailed way. I knew where I was, who I was with, the temperature, the energy and everything else before I realized what I was doing and halted to remind myself to be in the present moment.
I found the juxtaposition between visualization and being in the moment a challenge, and I knew there must be a difference. After thinking about it, I came to understand that visualization is at a higher level to start. I want to be published, and I can see my offer for a six figure book deal, but I haven't envisioned the details, like who my literary agent and publisher are.
So, in the present moment, I desire to be published, and I can visualize that happening.
Let's say I meet a number of literary agents and share manuscripts with them. Then, I can visualize at that level of the present moment, and so on until my book is made into an Oscar winning movie. As I make progress to the high level goals, I'll begin to visualize the specifics, thus enabling me to both visualize and be in the present moment.
I find both visualization and being in the "now" are valuable techniques to achieve success and formulate clear future goals for your present desires. The important thing is to balance the two so you manage expectations and achieve success. Visualize your achievements according to your present desires because you can!
