Love is the force that drives the universe, yet so often we have a hard time feeling and experiencing love. We meet people all the time who are in severe need of love.
In fact, you’ve been or are that person right now. I know I have been. When I was sick and in need of love, I’m convinced the love of people around me were the driving force behind my recovery. I say to this day that I was filled up with so much love during those years that I could spend the rest of my life giving it back.
I know when you’re tired or angry or sick, you don’t feel very loving, but overall we know we feel better and the world is better around us when we come from a place of love. So, how do we generate more love in our lives? I was recently reminded of a powerful meditation practice, called Metta meditation, friendship meditation. In this meditation, you simply sit comfortably, focus on your breathing and remember the feelings from a time in your life when you felt most loved. Think of good things about yourself, friends, and benefactors. Focus on that for a time, and before you know it you’re pouring love out of your body.
Now that you’re radiating love, what happens? Your day should go better. You should have more patience, and your capacity for compassion will grow. I have a friend who’s been in a serious need of love. My friend seems very angry and wounded by past events, and I can’t help but feel great compassion. I want to shower my friend with filial love because the well is dry.
The law of attraction says you receive what you project. So, if you radiate love, you are also inviting love back into your life. Now that you radiate love from your being, share it with others because you can!
