I’m a planner. I’ll tell you I’m an organized woman who loves getting the calendar in order and filled up. I love to think about plans in the future like dinner with friends or going to a concert. I tend to think so much in the future that it can make me afraid of my present.
I develop worry about the decisions I am making and how they will manifest tomorrow. After a lot of frustration about the future not adhering to my carefully laid plans, I learned that it really never will. Then I learned that it is exhausting trying to be a control freak and organize the planet. Besides, that’s not my job anyway.
I also find that when I let my mind live too much in the future, I develop a mold and expectations into which I feel the future should fit into. Then, I grow upset and disappointed when things don’t happen as I imagined.
To be clear, I believe in the power of visualization, having goals and being motivated to do things. The key differentiator is to visualize your dreams and goals and release them into the universe it instead of living fully in your imagination of the future.
Once I had the realization and understanding of how to visualize my future dreams and release them, I started making new decisions to begin a process of living in the present and not so much in the future. I still catch myself daydreaming and guessing what will happen in different areas of my life. Then I stop and remind myself to be here and now.
If I choose to live now and follow my intuition, the rest will take care of itself. It always does. The more we can understand that, the more we realize there is a release of the need to worry over the future. Your intuition will guide you to make the right decisions without agonizing over every possible ramification.
Listen to your heart, your gut or whatever term works best for you and watch a beautiful life unfold before you while you are always in the moment. Live for the present because you can!
