I recently had an epiphany about love I want to share with you. I've focused a lot of my energy in the last years learning to guard my heart because everything you do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23). As a beginner, the easiest way I found to guard my heart was to cover it with armor and imprison it, but I learned that's not what guarding your heart means. My heart was protected but it also couldn't receive much nourishment.
As I began to long for more passion and love in my life, I started to explore what trust and honesty with myself were. Those things really open the doors to self-love, which in turn opened the doors to love from the outside. The prison doors and shackles were beginning to come undone.
When I recently realized the doors to my heart were imprisoned, I started to think about the key to their release. I consulted with my true self, my intuition, and the voice of God in my soul, and was surprised to hear a clear, quality answer. The answer was: submit to love.
That's wonderful I thought, but how can you guard your heart and submit to love at the same time? I've been chewing on that idea and finding delicious answers along the way. What I found is that guarding your heart is approaching with caution. It's not a full suit of armor or prison door. Guarding your heart allows you an opportunity to evaluate a person or situation and begin to develop trust. As trust grows stronger, then you can trust yourself to begin to submit to the love that is developing within you. If you are in a relationship, partnership or any other kind of emotional commitment, then both parties should begin to submit to one another and to their love.
For example, you guard your body each day with clothes, but there's still a way to get to your skin to clean it and receive the love language of touch.
This realization challenged me to release my love in new ways to new people rather than keeping it bottled up suffocating from lack of air and nutrients. Please share your thoughts and experiences on submitting to love with me today because you can!
