I'm a top-down person, which means I get my head involved in pretty much every aspect of my life. I know I over-think things, and spend a lot of my energy practicing the art of allowing and learning to let go. The more I do it, the easier it gets. I was recently talking to a friend about an upcoming experience, and as I was trying to masterfully put my head all over the event to create a magnificent outcome, which isn't possible by force, she reminded me that the best wisdom to apply was not how to fix my hair or what to say. She advised me to simply enjoy the experience.
I'm number one at being guilty of rushing through this experience to get to the next one. I'm so good at checking things off the list and being productive, that I forget to "stop and smell the roses" as they say at the events and experiences that are designed for pleasure. Slow down to eat the meal and enjoy every flavor. Take time to inhale the scent of your bubble bath. Plan your evenings out when you don't have to be home so you can enjoy quality time and conversations with people you care about.
These are all useful tools to help you enjoy the experience. Many of you are naturals at this, and I write about it to remind myself how easy and important it is to simply enjoy. Please enjoy the experience with me because you can!
