You may think you are brave, courageous and self-sufficient. Or, you may believe you are quite the opposite and very cowardly. There is one very obvious kind of coward who turns away at challenges and conflict. This coward is like the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz, but there is another more discrete kind of coward. This is the strong self-reliant individual who refuses to accept responsibility, grow up and own their mistakes. These people often shy away from responsibility and displace it onto someone else more reliable. They run away from failures, stick their tales between their legs and blame everyone else for their own mistakes. This coward is not as easy to identify, but much more dangerous.
You may think you are brave, but are you really arrogant instead of brave. Arrogance is usually a device people create to cover up our cowardly feelings. Self- awareness is the key to discovering your true courage. If you can look back on your past, you may see a pattern of behavior with common actions and reactions from those around you. You may discover you always run or act-out or get angry at different challenges in life. If you become aware, you can begin the process of change. It’s slow and hared to make new choices about your attitude, actions and reactions. Courage is a choice and you can start showing your true courage today.
